FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE: MWC ANNOUNCES 2025 MICHIGAN WINE MONTH WITH STATE PROCLAMATAION
The Michigan Wine Collaborative (MWC) is honored to announce May is Michigan Wine Month with the official proclamation from Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s office. The official proclamation celebrates that Michigan’s wine grape and wine industry has an over $929 million economic impact, and generates over $892 million in tourism spending, creating thousands of jobs with over $94 million in wages statewide. The proclamation also recognizes MWC’s The DREAM program, an initiative that provides education and training for underrepresented groups to pursue career opportunities in Michigan’s growing wine industry.
Michigan Wine Month celebrates and highlights our incredible and progressive industry. As the buds break and the blossoms bloom, May is the official start to the tasting room season. In our spaces, we aim to lift Michigan wine’s prestige by offering tailored wine events throughout Michigan, offering tasting room specials at each location, and offering education on the impact that the Michigan wine industry has on Michigan’s economy. This year we have launched the first Taste Michigan Invades Michigan Wine Month. During this programming we have assisted our member wineries in pairing them with elite restaurants and retailers and planning Michigan wine events in the Detroit and Grand Rapids areas. However, we are also highlighting Michigan wine events all over the state. The official landing page has the full line up of events, access to interactive maps of events, and will be updated throughout the month.
Taste Michigan is the new brand for Michigan’s wine industry. Supported by wine professionals from around the state, Taste Michigan has the mission of advocating, educating and inspiring people about all things Michigan wine.
