Experience an Improved MI Governor’s Cup Experience!
Michigan’s only statewide wine competition is back, and we’re thrilled to share some exciting enhancements for this year’s event! We listened to your feedback. We brainstormed solutions. And we’ve made significant improvements to ensure this year’s competition is the best yet.
1. A Fresh Look
We are in love with our updated logo, which proudly showcases the Taste Michigan brand—the official statewide identity for Michigan wine. The Michigan Wine Collaborative (MWC) will be leveraging Taste Michigan to market and promote this year’s winning wines.
2. Enhanced Judging & Scoring
We have worked closely with Beverage Testing Institute (BevTest) to refine scoring metrics and feedback quality. As we enter our third year with BevTest, they have developed a deeper understanding of Michigan wine styles and terroir. Key improvements include:
✅ More Technical Scoring Criteria – Evaluations now incorporate varietal correctness, texture, mouthfeel, recognized tasting notes, and more.
✅ Professional & Constructive Feedback – BevTest has committed to using respectful, honest, and accurate descriptors to ensure all wineries receive meaningful insights.
✅ Judging Transparency – For the first time, BevTest will provide full background and credentials of the judging panel, which we will share with the industry.
3. Winner Incentives
The Best of Class, Governor’s Case, and the highly coveted Governor’s Cup Winner will receive exclusive benefits, including:
